<< But, according to my inquiries, not one of Wheatley's 85 titles is now in print or on sale, other than second hand. Not one. >>

Well, that's nonsense, and I went through the complicated rigmarole of posting a comment to say so!

I thought the book was superb, and wrote a review on Amazon to say so.

Does anyone happen to have a copy of the Literary Review issue of December/January, in which it was reviewed by Andrew Lycett? I'd be very interested to read it, but can't find a way to buy back issues on their site.

Fortean Times at last managed to review The Devil Is A Gentleman in their June issue, which is in shops now.

In a short but effusive piece, FT's reviewer Jay Rath describes Phil Baker as 'some kind', and praises the book with phrases such as 'masterful account', 'sensitive and knowledgeable investigation' and 'insightful and sublime.'

The FT Verdict gives a rare score of 10 out of 10, and claims 'the biographer is an angel'. Steady on...

A bet this will put a smile on Phil Baker's face.
