Book Reviews

Post by Bob Rothwell »

Gary Holmes said in the Topic 'DW's place in literature' wrote:On a completely different subject, a review section for the books, written by anyone who would like to write in and express an opinion would be an interesting idea. I must admit that I've not read every single Wheatley, and have started to include a couple of unread titles into my reading list every month. Faked Passports turned out to be bit of a slog, whilst The Island Where Time Stands Still was an unexpected gem. I would like to know what everyone else thinks.
Excellent idea Gary! And to add further incentive to the idea, I will add the best (with due acknowledgement) to the main site next to the main titles.

All contributions gratefully received

Is it just my imagination, or is this book review thing not the rip-roaring success that we might have hoped for?

I do feel we seemed not to have attracted the quantity we first hoped for - mind you, life is taken at a much more leisurely pace here. When some of the effects of the brandies have worn off maybe someone else will get creative?

I think that I'll have to write some more myself. Probably after Christmas. In the meantime...The Devil Rides Out--good innit? (hic, burp!) Where's the booze?

 How did I miss this thread before? These are great!

Unfortunately the only one I've read of these is Gateway ... , and I've been horrible enough about that already :rofl

Do any of the Roger Brooks' touch upon the "supernatural"?

The only one that does is The Irish Witch. Ive not read it yet, so I cant offer a review, but apparently it concerns an evil woman who preys upon the Hell Fire club.

Diamondhairdan - Great, many thanks. I can see these appearing soon on the main site! More, please!

gloomysundae - Evil in a Mask is the obvious title featuring the infamous Hell Fire Club (oops - sorry dh, didn't see your posting until I'll finished mine!)
