From Charles in the What's New section:
Up in the present, you may be interested to know that Dominic Wheatley and I were guests at a Crime Classics blogger event held at the Groucho Club on Saturday last; part of a series of events designed to re-awaken interest in Dennis Wheatley and other classic authors. After the opening pleasantries, I had the pleasure of sharing the podium with John Creasey’s son Richard, and giving a short talk on Wheatley. It was a charming event, the bloggers were highly interesting people who were a delight to talk to, and the authors that were paired together were rather well chosen – as John Creasey and DW knew each other, and as DW was on one of the panels which gave JC an award.
That is interesting. I read many John Creasey books in my younger days - you could find loads on jumble sales as I grew up and I bought them up. This has re-awakened my interest (to be honest I had forgotten about him - a visit to my Mum's loft is required).
From what I remember his books were usually quite short (compared to DW), which was probably why I was prepared to try him as a young, curious reader.
There are some similarities with DW - I remember a John Creasey black magic novel called "Sons of Satan" being a particular fovourite of mine.
Charles, you mention that the event was part of a series. Are any more planned?

And further, Charles, there is a picture of you at the event, with a bottle of beer by your side: http://wwwshotsmagcouk.blogspot.co.uk/2 ... atley.html

And a further picture, Charles. But this explains that it is not a bottle of beer but an ancient unopened bottle of clementine gin which I assume at some point was part of DW's cellar.

That was quick work, Darren !
And I'm glad you found out it was not a bottle of beer by my side ... my reputation would have been ruined !
Other exhibits I showed - I'm not sure if they were mentioned in the write-ups, I'll check as soon as I've finished this post - were a first edition first issue of The Forbidden Territory, a first edition of The Devil Rides Out, and Dennis Wheatley's copy of his first War Paper, Resistance to Invasion.
I was somewhat relieved when they were back in their respective homes !
Best as always !

And it would seem your talk was successful in gaining new DW readers (scroll down to Michael Reynolds 2016-02-20 18:34:56): http://www.instagram24.com/tag/crimelit
