Herewith the Clues! - the video game

If the hand-eye coordination necessary for Sonic the Hedgehog or Pacman proved too demanding, or they just fancied something a little more cerebral, the early 90s video gamer could pop Dennis Wheatley Presents a Murder Mystery - Herewith the Clues! into their Amiga Commodore and get to grips with a virtual version of DW’s pre-war crime dossier.

It’s interesting to note that the software publishers considered DW to still have sufficient purchase on the public imagination to make it worth their while marketing the game.

I wonder if any of this community have ever seen a copy of the game, or indeed actually ever played it?

I have seen one copy in the flesh, and it turns up now and then on ebay in various formats to suit the various different computer systems of the day. How many different versions there were, I don't know.

I gather that the player had to send the name of their suspect by post to the game's producers in order to receive a copy of the solution. In that respect it seemed to hark back to a bygone era, which is at odds with the whole concept of bringing DW into the computer age!

'...send the name of their suspect by post to the game's producers...'

That does hark back to a bygone age. A prelapsarian world pre-email and mobile phones. It wasn't all that long ago really, but it does feel so very distant.
