Desert island discs

Post by ken68 »

Hello all. Maybe old news but I see radio 4 now have a searchable archive of desert island discs and DW is in there. As far as I can see it's only a list of his choices and not the actual broadcast.

Brilliant !

Just to log it on the website in case the link ever disappears, DW was Roy Plomley's guest on Saturday 4th November 1972 and his choices were

1. Charles Coburn - The Man Who Broke The Bank At Monte Carlo
2. Chelsea Pensioners - Tipperary
3. Violet Loraine & George Robey - If You Were The Only Girl In The World
4. Elgar - Pomp & Circumstance March No. 1 in D Major 'Land of Hope and Glory'
5. Imre Kalman - The Merry Widow (Sadlers Wells Opera Company Orchestra)
6. Band of the Blues and Royals - Washington Post
7. Paris Opera Corus - Claude-Joseph Rouget de Lisle
8. Castaway's Favourite : Peggy Wood & George Metaxa - I'll See You Again

Book : Encyclopedia Britannica (I'd have got that wrong - I'd have guessed the complete works of Dumas !)
Luxury Item : Stamp Album

How about trying to locate all of these and playing them as one of the events at our October Convention ???

Many thanks again for finding this Ken - most grateful !

Best to everyone as always !
