I wonder if there's any chance of this series being picked up by one of the U.S. cable affiliates that shows BBC material. While DW is virtually unknown over here now, many of his books were published in U.S. editions, and he still has some fans, of course. Besides that, the episodes on Wyndham and ...

I had to laugh at Jonathan's comment, because I used to do the same thing..but only on the last page of the book, where I knew DW was saving a twist or surprise to cap the whole story. Two of the best, IMO, are the ones in his first published book, THE FORBIDDEN TERRITORY, and the last, DESPERATE ME...

First, my apologies for not signing my previous post. Second, having checked the actual bookmark, it lists the titles, but *not* the historical dates of the series. (Those are in an appendix in the book itself.) Anyway, I have no scanner myself, but I will see who among my friends might be able to d...

I have both the abridged Wheatleys, on cassette (they never came out on CD, did they?). I find THE DEVIL RIDES OUT to be quite acceptable for an abridgement; I wasn't as taken with the TOBY JUGG. If the audio versions Nick projects were not *sold*, the copyright holders would be less likely to objec...

On the DVD version of the original film, Lee is one of the performers on the commentary track, and discusses what he likes and dislikes about the movie. He said at that time, that if the film were to be remade, he would be the right age to play the Duke, as he was too young originally. Now, I'm afra...

3. This was probably the working title; I think the one we know it by has a better ring. Wheatley's original title for EVIL IN A MASK was ENTER THE NYMPHOMANIAC (yikes)! Also, he wrote THEY USED DARK FORCES under the title THE DEVIL'S DISCIPLE. There are probably other examples, but those are two th...

I haven't yet worked out how to put links etc into my area of the Latest News ticker and you must have seen the item before I had had chance to put in the posting. I was so excited by the idea, that I didn't even wait to see what might be coming up. It amazes me that these clips are available so ea...

I saw this in the little scrolling bar last night, with no link or directions, and I immediately went to Google to try to track it down. Once I left out DW's name, it was easy to find the correct Pathe site, where I hunted out (as Bob suggests) the four clips. I downloaded the free version of the &q...

Sequels?
Alan Smith raises a point that has crossed my mind more than once in my years of reading Wheatley's novels. There are surely many stories about Armand, Duc de Richleau, that he didn't get around to telling. The internal chronology of the stories is complicated by the fact that they were not written ...
