Thanks for posting this. I'm currently re-reading TDRO for the fourth time, as it happens, so that was very apposite. And doesn't Charlotte Wheatley sound great. A real chip off the old block, and by the looks of her website, a very talented artist as well.

thanks for that darren, its good to hear DW take the feet from under his critics by getting in before them. then the sting in the tail with see if you can do better and make more money at it. priceless! Yes, thanks, Darren, and I certainly agree that it was good to hear DW so blithely accept his li...

I've not read this one yet, but Darren's recent post on another thread about DW's 1936 talk to the Hastings and St. Leonards Literary Society, in which he addressed the subject of film adaptations of his work, prompted me to try and track down the film version of "The Eunuch of Stamboul", ...

Thank you for posting this article. That was good to read. Aside from the very interesting detail about the pentagram incantation that you refer to above, the article also reiterates the critical importance of Christopher Lee in getting this film made. I think TDRO is a terrific film, and Lee is abs...

I just read "The Satanist" for the first time. And the only time, I feel. When I started reading it, I couldn't quite remember why it was that I had started it once before, as a teenager, about twenty-five years ago, and never finished it, particularly as I've read so many of DW's book dur...

I thought I'd add some pictures of my various editions of TTDAD. The 1st edition hardback (1953). Little bit scuffed at the edges but a very treasured possession. http://i828.photobucket.com/albums/zz205/rjw_photos/Book%20Photos/1A_zpsfb7b2a21.jpg And three of the Arrow paperbacks (no. 412): 1959 (2...

Thank you for the very nice welcomes. I've certainly enjoyed being here, and discussing "To the Devil a Daughter", over on another thread. Yes, it's funny about how "Toby Jugg" seems to be the starting point for so many. I even know people who don't read Dennis Wheatley who have ...

The film of TTDAD is as relevant to the book as The Shining film is to Stephen King’s novel. And I love the film of The Shining and the novel equally (please note – I am not comparing the film of TTDAD with The Shining). Darren, I think that analogy is spot on - the film version of TTDAD takes ...

To the Devil a Daughter

As a new member, I'd like to offer some thoughts of my own to this thread on "To the Devil a Daughter", which I have just read for the third time, and which is, beyond question, my favourite Dennis Wheatley novel. Where to start? There is so much about this book that I like. Its premise is...

A New Member Steps Into the Library

Hello, Thank you for allowing me to enter the Library, as a contributing member. I have enjoyed reading several of the contributions here, and look forward to adding some of my own, in the coming weeks and months. I live in Winchester, and when not occupied with my not terribly interesting day job, ...
