What a splendid description of Robert Pattinson! One can only imagine that DW would have been apoplectic if he had seen that travesty of an adaptation of Toby Jugg. It made the film of To The Devil - A Daughter look like a faithful adaptation, and we know what DW thought of that! [...

I'm a great fan of Sax Rohmer. The Fu Manchu books have risen in my estimation since I first read them in my youth and was rather disappointed with them. But for me some of the other novels are much better. Brood of the Witch Queen and The Green Eyes of Bast are two which I thoroughly enjoyed. But S...

I'm going to predict that the following may not be deemed worthy of re-issue: Such Power Is Dangerous Star Of Ill-Omen The Strange Story Of Linda Lee I must stress that this does not reflect my personal opinion about the worth of these titles, rather the impression I have as to how they are perceive...

I too have a copy of this notice, and the way I read it, this new application is merely for a variation of permission (to demolish the existing dwelling and redevelop the site) already granted on 14 March 2013. So Clinton House may already be no more than a pile of rubble...

Well, I suppose this should be good news for anyone who owns one of these Kindle things; but I've had one for fifteen months, and I haven't managed to get the b@$+@¬d to work yet, so it makes no difference to me.

Ah Charles, many thanks for that.

At least this proves that I do read your posts in the Library, even if I can't remember all the details.

Best as ever,

I re-read this one about fifteen months ago, and I agree, it is a splendid thriller. And although I found the ending a bit of an anti-climax (certainly by Wheatley standards) , I would nevertheless say that the novel is amongst DW's best. I can't remember the 'info-dumps', so they must have been wel...

Jim, it is just a quiz, so the answer doesn't have to fit in with anything else. But I agree that would seem a likely reason for including a DW question in, say, a crossword puzzle. There are twenty numbered questions (of various degrees of difficulty), plus another - tagged on at the end - which re...

DW question in Daily Telegraph quiz

Don't get too excited, but in the Weekend section of The Daily Telegraph today, question 20 of the Pubquiz (sic) set by Gavin Fuller is: 'Who was the master spy created by Dennis Wheatley in a series of 12 novels set at the time of the French Revolution?' So the saga has not been completely forgotte...

I can't recall finding anything of interest in any of my DW volumes, but all this talk reminds me of Driff's Guide to all the Secondhand and Antiquarian Bookshops, which ran to several editions in the mid-'eighties and early 'nineties. They were quite amusing, and are colle...

Ah, Jim, I too have dreamed of The Uncollected Dennis Wheatley! The Lusty Youth Of Roger Brook would obviously be one volume, and I think Of Vice And Virtue would constitute a separate volume in itself. But a third volume could include the other bits you mention, and some others which Charles discus...
