Thanks, Steve,

I absolutely agree with you.

Although DW was not keen on it, I thought it flowed beautifully ... and the ending without saying too much was a lifetime disappointment to me ! Someone good needs to write the sequels.

All best

Research done - sorry it took a while, but I was in South East Asia last month, and it's taken me a while to dig myself back into everything. Farmers Weekly appears to have come out every Friday, and each week they seem to have reprinted two chapters from the book. Nearly everything is as per the pu...

Similar question to the one in my last post - how much did you, Steve, or indeed other posters, enjoy it ? I don't believe DW thought too much of it (reasons to follow in an update later this year, dv), but I must confess I rather enjoyed it, and I felt very sorry for Julian being let down in love y...

Steve,

Excellent review as always !

It's a long time since I read the book (I guess I was in my teens), so I have forgotten a lot of it.

One thing you don't say though ...

How do you rate it ?

How much did you enjoy it ?

Best as always !

That was quick work, Darren ! And I'm glad you found out it was not a bottle of beer by my side ... my reputation would have been ruined ! :D :D :D Other exhibits I showed - I'm not sure if they were mentioned in the write-ups, I'll check as soon as I've finished this post - were a first edition fir...

Belated thanks for the reminder, Steve,

I was a bit pre-occupied with other things, and only read your post tonight.

I shall accordingly drink his toast - and all of ours - tonight !

All best to all !

Terrific value for money, but ...

I just noticed something I found amusing.... I was looking at a first edition of The Quest of Julian Day, to check the collation. On the spine of the dust jacket it proudly proclaims '432 pages 8/6 Net' But the novel itself starts on page 11, and ends on page 422. I wonder if anyone noticed ? :D

For those of you who don't have a copy of Strange Conflict on their shelves to check him out, or who haven't read the book recently, here he is : [the Duke is on the Astral] 'Shortly afterwards a plump, genial-faced Roman Catholic priest came walking down the street and he and de Richleau greeted ea...

Alan, Point taken re getting back to your fascinating suggestion for a thread. I'd happily choose the Duke or Lucretia, or any of their gang, because I am so fond of the Duke myself. But if you want someone a little recherché, I give you, even if he isn't in an incarnation at the moment, the genial...
