Amazon US has now listed the release date as May 6, 2014, while Amazon UK still gives a 2013 date. We'll see what happens next... Strange Attractor Press has a Facebook page, and when they recently promoted some item that was coming out (also long overdue by their own admission), I asked if there w...

Perhaps they didn't want any confusion between the novel and the film version. Also, since it is DW's single best-known work, it might not have been considered Mastermind fodder...

He also mentions that Hammer originally wanted Gert Fröbe (aka Goldfinger) to play Mocata which would have been closer to DW’s description of him, and I think would have been a great choice. However, I am happy with Charles Gray’s menacing portrayal. The only possible drawback is that Fröbe w...

Here, then, are the transcribed limericks--in a separate message, so the virginal can avert their eyes! Once an old Bishop of Buckingham Wrote a treatise on women and fucking 'em. But a wily old Turk Wrote a far finer work All about arseholes and sucking 'em. There was an old Bishop of Bir...

I just wish somebody would type these out, as I have some difficulty reading Wheatley's handwriting. Of course, his poor spelling doesn't help. I got that there was a bishop from Birmingham and some frisky business ensues, but there are various words that I can't make out, so I have to guess at wha...

I just spent a few days in Vancouver (British Columbia). While the bookstore situation there is not exactly inspiring--in the whole downtown area, I saw only two shops carrying new titles--I was able to get a first printing of the new Bloomsbury TDRO, so I was happy about that.

Charles (or anyone else who might know), the DW Wikipedia article says "His availability and influence declined following his death, partly owing to difficulties of reprinting his works because of copyright problems." Weren't all the copyrights assigned to Brook-Richleau Ltd? What complica...

Well, I saw the first DW title from Bloomsbury in the U.S. today--and bought it! Eighty years after its first appearance, I have a new first printing of The Forbidden Territory . I'm not happy to see the words "edited by Miranda Vaughan Jones" on the title page, but I guess some "corr...

I also came to Dennis Wheatley in the early 1970s, and I guess The Devil Rides Out was my first. There was at that time an attempt to sell him to the American market--it did not go over well, except for the Black Magic titles, and only the first two Gregory Sallust and Roger Brook stories were issue...

Aleister Crowley's books

We know that DW had a few Crowley items in his library, but who would have expected a major collection to be found in Detroit? When an unclaimed trove of manuscripts and self-published books stored in a Detroit warehouse came to light, the dark side of magician Aleister Crowley roused collectors—a...

My only gripe - Christopher Josiffe has copied several pictures from the Dennis Wheatley Virtual Museum, without request or acknowledgement. I suppose that's commonplace, but it does seem a little discourteous. Is there an e-mail where you could send a note? If you state your gripe politely, perhap...

Congratulations Jim. 7 years - I admire your patience and tenacity. It must be even longer, because at the time of my original posting in this thread, I had already set up wants at eBay. It was a good week because I also found the last two Janet Neel mysteries in signed British firsts. Of course, s...
