You can't really argue that the most famous Black Magic novels should be reprinted first, since they are more likely to sell well. The only problem with this in the long term is that it will end up skewing the public image of DW. The Black Magic stuff will sell well to people who like them, but the ...

I only knew that it was back because I occasionally looked up the site to see if anything was happening. Maybe a mass e-mail could be sent to members, just to let them know that it is back.

Nick mentioned us all meeting at the hotel where they filmed Devil Rides Out. It's out of the question for me this year, but is anyone interested in something next year? I don't know what booking a party of us there would entail, but if anyone knows more about the place in question it might be nice ...

Books with DW in 'em.

Has anyone else seen a book called ACHTUNG SCHWEINEHUND by Harry Pearson? It's essentially about the author's fascination for war-gaming, although it also talks about the presence of WWII in the popular culture of the 60's and 70's. DW gets a page to himself. Pearson mainly talks about the strategy ...

I'm sure that Tanith is mentioned in one of the novels after DEVIL RIDES OUT. It basically just says that she died shortly after the events of that novel. Rex had married her (presumably his son in DANGEROUS INHERITANCE is from this match). As for Miranda, this is one of the problems of retroactive ...

Re: Gregory Sallust's age. It is interesting how DW paid so little attention to the continuity in the Sallust books. I do sometimes think that DW cared less about Gregory as a character than De Richleau or Roger Brook. He couldn't be bothered to tie up any inconsistencies.

:D Thanks for your replies! I'll try to come up with something soon. I think that we should perhaps use the off-subject thread as well. Even when it isn't directly connected to DW it's nice to see what everyone is up to!

What about the forum?

I don't want to come across as preachy or hectoring, but is anyone else worrying about the fact that this forum is more or less inactive? Before Bob's sad death this forum had book reviews, arguments, political diatribes, the whole works. Unfortunately, since the site returned, it's as though the he...

It's still an enjoyable book, even with the many mistakes. There are plenty of factual books about Hammer, and this feels a bit like one man's opinion rather than an attempt to dot every I and cross every T, so I can't get too worked up about the goofs. Besides, how can you not love a book which des...

There's a new book about Hammer. A THING OF UNSPEAKABLE HORROR by Sinclair McKay. There's a nice bit about Devil Rides Out, which he loves. There's also some stuff about the possible revival of the company, and what it might be like. Very good book.

I would love to be excited by this news, but........ I am a big fan of Hammer films, and I would love there to be more of them, especially when they are adaptions of DW stories. Unfortunately it seems that every few years someone else takes control of the company and promises that Hammer is back!!!!...

Christopher Fowler describes DW's books as 'pretty hokey'. Does that really qualify him as a fan?

As well as being a Wheatley fan, I am also a great admirer of Sherlock Holmes. The SH fan groups have been having fun with this sort of thing for years, given that Conan Doyle was even less inclined to re-read his old tales than DW was. Maybe it's time that we started trying to find out all of the c...
