On a more serious note, I wonder if it would be possible for anybody to collect a few bricks from his old homes as they are torn down. That way, somebody could display them all together, with a card by each to state which place it came from. That would something interesting for the conventions, not ...

I am certain Wheatley would be rather outraged by The Haunted Airman. At least they had the sense to change the title. I do agree about that, because even though To the Devil was not very faithful to the source material, at least it did keep the black magic element, which is completely removed from ...

Yes, why nobody ever reprints titles like Sixty Days to Live is beyond me. Took me a really long time to get a copy of that one. Although, despite the fact that Devil Rides Out has been reprinted multiple times in the last several years, I still don't generally run into Wheatley's works in my area. ...

I am actually reading Brood of the Witch Queen at the moment. I have an old paperback copy that I got along with a couple others by Rohmer: The Quest of the Sacred Slipper and The Secret of Holm Peel and Other Strange Stories. I also have a paperback of his occult book, Romance of Sorcery, plus a co...

Haunting of Toby Jugg was my first Wheatley novel as well. I bought mine along with a copy of Ka of Gifford Hillary at a used book store. I bought both because they were the only two Wheatley titles the store had and for some reason, the name rang a bell with me, but I couldn't place it at the time....

If they keep this stuff up, some day Charles could host "tours of the walls that used to be Dennis Wheatley homes". However, I would doubt they would keep any of the original brick, probably just tear it all down. I realize that stuff starts to fall apart as it gets old, but I still wish m...

Of course, I suppose there should a bit of French in the Duc this time around, as well. I love Christopher Lee, but he never sounds anything but English, through and through. Although, to be fair, I have not seen him as Fu Manchu, so I don't know if he played that sounding English or not. By the way...

I have been wanting to get the ones that Christopher Lee read that are available on iTunes, but have not as yet bought them. Did anybody listen to them yet? I heard the samples and those seemed good. On the other hand, I did recently snag a copy of the Anton Rodgers reading of The Devil Rides Out on...

I have to say that I have generally enjoyed the titles that are usually considered his worst works. Linda Lee is a rather over-the-top story, in my opinion, with a highly predictable ending, but it was rather fun to read. Star of Ill-Omen, though it gave me all sorts of amusing mental pictures, such...

I guess it all depends on whether you are trying to go with the way the characters are described in the book or base it more off of the movie. Daniel Radcliffe could work, just because he has that weird soft-spoken, somewhat nervous quality about him. I could actually picture him saying, "Ner.&...

Saturdays With Bricks is one of the books I still do not have (I don't have any of his autobiographical books). I have found two or three copies available online, and in decent shape from what I remember. I think they were all from Australia, for some reason. I would still like to have the old versi...

I have a Kindle, but only because a relative of mine upgraded to a fancier model and I got the old one as a hand-me-down. It's a pretty interesting device, but I don't use it much. With the exception of D for Deception, all the stuff I have downloaded was free. I got a bunch of Sax Rohmer, old books...

I just took a look at the WWII area of the museum. It's so difficult for those of us who didn't live through that time to put ourselves into the frame of mind of those who were living through it and the rather uncertain and gloomy path the world was on at the time. A perfect example is the photo of ...

I thought about as much. Public transportation doesn't get really popular in some areas, but when you get into big, crowded cities, it does seem a necessity to use it, largely due to the fact that traveling by car would probably take 2 or 3 times as long due to traffic. Where I live, which is the so...

Okay, you'll have to forgive my being American on this one. I am familiar with a good bit of Brit slang, but what it blazes is an Oyster Card? Is that a frequent rider thing? See, in the U.S., we do have public transportation, but it is about 50 years behind most other countries, I'd say. I think it...
