Dennis Wheatley- A Letter to Posterity BBC4

I’ve just noticed that the BBC’s documentary Dennis Wheatley- A Letter to Posterity ( sans final 15 minutes) was uploaded to YouTube last year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeXEj2_v6i4 And, the inevitable sanctimonious whinging about DW’s politics aside, it’s very entertaining. Definitely ...

I'm sure I read somewhere that Wormwood Magazine will email a facsimile of a selected article upon request. But £8.99 (inc. p&p) for the full monty isn't a bad deal at all. I think I'll take myself over to their website then. Thanks Steve.

I’m grateful for your mentioning that you followed the auction online Steve. I’d never thought to take a look at Christie’s website before and, now that I have, I find it absolutely fascinating. Interesting to note that the last DW lot to be auctioned, prior to his leather bound set: ‘An ext...

£20,000? That is a lot of money. Especially considering Christie's estimate was £7,000 - £10,000.

Hi Steve,

Do you know anything as to its quality (of presentation/appearance- not if it accurately predicted the future or not ;) )? Was it a scratch job scrawled on the back of a menu or a more lavish article drawn up by a 'professional'?

DW's horoscope

Ever wondered what DW’s astrological chart would look like? No, can't say I have either. But the random horoscope generator at www.astro.com has produced one for us anyway (along with that of Mussolini, Shirley Bassey, Pee-Wee Herman and umpteen others). http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Wheatle...

'...send the name of their suspect by post to the game's producers...'

That does hark back to a bygone age. A prelapsarian world pre-email and mobile phones. It wasn't all that long ago really, but it does feel so very distant.

Herewith the Clues! - the video game

If the hand-eye coordination necessary for Sonic the Hedgehog or Pacman proved too demanding, or they just fancied something a little more cerebral, the early 90s video gamer could pop Dennis Wheatley Presents a Murder Mystery - Herewith the Clues! into their Amiga Commodore and get to grips with a ...

I've just had a look at Rule's website. That's some literary heritage all right- what with Dickens, Thackeray and Wells on the guest list. I should think it's almost certain that DW would've popped in there at some time or other. Perhaps to have sampled the oysters he was so fond of. The menu looks ...

Well, a search on the Web has turned up an answer to at least one of my questions concerning the Hungaria- that of non-Magyar dishes appearing on the menu. According to the Sydney Sunday Herald, in its report (24th May) on the 1953 London debutante season: The Hungaria Restaurant, in lower Regent St...

I don't know if my resurrecting such a vintage thread will be of much interest to anybody, but the story of DW treating Crowley to a feed at the Hungaria has always captured my imagination. Prosaically enough, I’ve always wondered what they had to eat. Did the menu consist solely of Hungarian reci...
