Do you know I can't help thinking that The Wheatley charactors would lose their timeless quality if he were writing today. The 'Letter to posterity' TV discussion put it very well when it was suggested that when you enter Wheatleys world, you enter a world of safe values that bring rewards, and find...

What an excellent and entertaining reply! I can see why you are a published writer. If Wheatley was alive today......

He would be a very old man, however... A bit of harmless speculation during my lunch hour makes me wonder about the following. If DW had been born in 1956 instead of 1896, what sort of fiction if any would he be producing for todays market. Would he have abandoned the modern musketeers for a new set...

Would it be a good place to start if Charles contacted all members to find out how many are willing to attend a convention in London, and get an idea as to which month next year would suit the majority? I would suggest the next move would be to cost it out and see what accommodation deal was on offe...

Wheatley Pastiche

Interesting to read Lark1 comments about the Holmes vs. Dracula book. Holmes pastiches are numerous. The Solar Pons novels, and such delights as 'The giant Rat of Sumatra' and 'Exit Shelock Holmes. OK you've guessed it. Who's up for a Wheatley pastiche? Who could we have ? Gregory Sallusts Grandson?...

OK With Charles permission I'll contact the hotel and see if they would consider a DW convention, and how much per head. Next year might be best. I dont mind helping out with some of the organisation from up here in Blackpool, and as a BBC employee I can get some radio anfd TV coverage if required. ...
