I felt that DW was trying to repeat the commercial success of DRO with Strange Conflict, and on the first reading felt that the novel did not compare favourably. Over the years and several readings later, I feel that the story is as compelling as DRO and stands well in its own right. It helps to hav...

My mother had a pistol like this. It was broken but still recognisable. It was a .22 with an ivory handle with a silver plated body. It fired one shot only and was about four and a half inches long. I think it came from eastern europe into our family (a long story), and my sister probably has it som...

Great news I agree! I wonder where this will lead? Film opportunities are pretty hard to come by in this country, however we live in hope. See you all at the convention.

I spent some happy times in Finland when I was the entertainment on the Rosella sailing between Turku and Stockholm on the viking line (playing 60/70s songs in the bar) great money as I remember. It was many years ago now, and I remember taking DW with me to re-read in my cabin. I remember the eston...

This is all good positive stuff and I think the Convention is going to happen. It is a good idea to have an informal morning until lunch I agree. Just generally meeting up and chatting, and possibly a screening of 'The letter to Posterity' to set the scene for the afternoon. The next job I would say...

Conference Prices

I've been back in touch with Leandra at Elstree and the prices are very reasonable. £60 for delegates without B&B £145 for delegates with B&B Not bad at all. This price was based on 20 delegates in all (more and it may go down). They will provide Tea Coffee/buffet Lunch Evening Meal to our liking....

DW Convention-Hotel Contacted Good News

I have contacted the Chorus Hotel at Elstree and confirmed that they can cater for our convention. They have meeting rooms but are quite prepared to let us use the 'Library' as used in the DRO film. They can supply a large screen TV for DVDs (I mean a big one with back projection) The have also conf...

Great! Now we're talking! That is a good idea. As soon as we can agree a date and numbers involved then I suggest a phone call to the venue. I don't mind doing it unless it is not my place to do so. The continuence of DW charactors is something that has led to many a daydream. Truss and Fleur meet u...

Yes Hotels with conference facilities will be covered by a performing Arts and MCPS agreement. (This means they can play piped music etc.) A DVD for private viewing with paying delegates should present no problem. I agree !!come on members lets get this off the ground! Who knows where it may lead! W...

Further thoughts are that members should be offered a choice of two packages. In other words. Venue buffet, evening meal so much or Venue buffet evening meal with b&b so much. This would then allow members from further afield (like me) to plan and cost their journey. It may only be practical to show...

True but Lee has a more aristocratic air and a commanding voice. I'm sure there could be a modern actor that would bring the same presence to the role but I can not think of one.

Can you get Fatter or Uglier than Goering? Well there's Prescott I suppose...Enough of that! I agree the DRO film influenced my mental image as well. It actualy comes as a shock when DW reveals some detail that just isnt there in your mind, for instance Tanith wearing a hat whilst fleeing from the P...
