Help!

Hello all - congrats on the convention. Hope everyone had a good time. I just wanted to ask a question. I picked up a really nice copy of Dangerous Inheritance recently. I thought it might be a First, but I see it's published by Hutchinson, contrary to information here. Would this be a second editio...

I'd like to add my condolences to Bob's family. I never met him in person, but in cyber space via The Vault Of Evil, and here. I can't add anything more than others have already said.
Bob - you're missed already - and I hope you do get to meet DW - wherever the pair of you are.

Thanks for a wonderful piece, Stevie. TDRO is my favourite DW novel. I'm only just beginning to discover his non-Black Magic work. TDRO is a fantastic book - it moves at an incredible pace, and is a wonderful portrait of England circa 1934. Thank you for all the pointers to other books and the refer...

I'm often over at BritishHorrorFilms.Co.Uk/Board and they haven't had a good word to say about THA either.

Chin up Bob! It did mention the novel in the opening credits. I didn't even get through the whole thing - giving it up as a bad job after about 40 minutes. It showed such promise too. There were hints of what might have been (the best bits as you might guess being those that harked back to the novel...

Will you be doing some conjuring in Black Park Country Park afterwards, Mr R?

Saw the ad last night. Looks quite promising (but then I like Hammer's To The Devil - A Daughter as well as DWs)

Blimey! Sir Pellinore Gwaine-Cust's yacht sails into a storm three nights out of Tahiti. The passengers assemble in the lounge - the ladies with light furs over shoulders left bare by evening dresses, the men in DJs. A submerged coral reef is struck and everything goes pear shaped. Gregory is hurled...

Archaic? Gadzooks! It's Dennis I tell you! The old rogue even has the gall to poke fun at various thriller writers including Dame Agatha. It really has been a corker, and I will have to read more Sallust (who obviously gave his first name to that Pendennis bounder). Also have a copy of Strange Confl...

The Island Where Time Stands Still

Not really a critique or a review but just a comment on how much I'm enjoying this book at present. Gloomy Sundae recently handed me a copy. My only DW books are the Black Magic novels - although I did manage to fight my way through Uncharted Seas not too long ago, but wasn't moved enough to write a...

Many thanks for your kind words! I haven't read enough of him to write in his style, but, owing to revisiting the Black Magic novels and watching A Letter To Posterity, I just loved his larger than life image and the Gregory Pendennis bit just poured out. Some other colleagues have told me it bears ...

I'm currently forging my way through The Haunting Of Toby Jugg at present. The constant Socialist and Taxman bashing is a little distracting but also interesting from an historical perspective. The book was first published circa 1948 i.e. just after the so-called Letter To Posterity and seems to ref...

I'm also a The Devil Rides Out fan - and have only read the Occult novels - and most of Uncharted Seas. Recently reread TDRO, To The Devil - A Daughter and The Satanist. TDRO wins hands down.
