Re: Hugh Desmond?

Hi Jim - never heard of Desmond or Lindsay, but a quick google and Wikipedia check confirms your point. There have been a few references to Pact with the Devil being similar to DW. For someone so prolific her Wikipedia page is surprisingly very short. It is interesting coming across these curiosity ...

Re: Lockdown Luxury

I similarly revisited it earlier this year - again, the first time in just over 30 years (the late 80's was when I was a full throttle Dennis Wheatley disciple). I thoroughly enjoyed it - the humour of the book really came out with this visit.

Re: The Devil Rides Out

Hi Jim - I have been waiting for that as well. It was going to be part of the Devil's Advokate's series which have published some great film studies of some of my favourite films so was looking forward to it. I know it was subsequently rescheduled for December 2019 but that date passed without relea...

New interest in Dennis Wheatley

Hi Folks, I have noticed that there has been little activity anywhere on the intranet about DW for quite some time. There is, however, a new essay titled "The Devil is in the Details: Politics and the Works of Dennis Wheatley" that was published in January 2020 on the Evolution of Horror w...

What's New Page

Another intriguing update, Charles, for November 2019. That is such a logical explanation - and worthy of your comparison to Sir Isaac Newton's discoveries. Of course, Charles, I think you have now set a new challenge (I suspect on purpose) as we now have to find the Time and Tide magazine referred ...

Books from DW's library - or not as the case may be!!

Hi Folks,

I have just seen a notice from Charles from last year that is worth reminding everyone about.

Please see his warning at: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=460&p=3368#p3368

Re: Books not (?) from DW's Library

That is indeed intriguing, Charles. I wonder what prompted you to double check - did you, by chance, see such a book for sale that you already know exists elsewhere that is not for sale? It is worth bearing in mind - I certainly would have fallen victim if one came by my way at a price I was prepare...

Re: Authors take sides on Vietnam

In 1937 there was a book published titled 'Authors take sides on the Spanish Civil War' which the Vietnam book is basing it's format on. Dennis Wheatley did not contribute to the Spanish Civil book which is surprising with him writing fiction set in Spain during that time. You can access a pdf versi...

Re: Upgrade Of Site?

Hi Cibator - this has been brought to the attention of Charles who is following it up with the suppliers.

I agree - it is less desirable.

On a more positive note - it is delightful to have you back in the DW community.

Authors take sides on Vietnam

Another excellent monthly update, Charles. I am glad you have added the "Authors take sides on Vietnam" book. And thank you for including his commentary on the war. I have wondered for a few years now what he had written, especially as it was published in 1967 with no idea what the outcome...

Message for Cibator

Cibator,

Do you remember your query about the missing words in They Found Atlantis? I have found them. If you go back to the "They Found Atlantis" discussion in this library you will see the results.

Re: They Found Atlantis

I visited the British Library this afternoon and whilst there I checked the Daily Mail serialization of They Found Atlantis and the missing words were there. The Daily Mail, Saturday, 22 February 1936, page 18: "You can well imagine this twice-yearly period of duty in the mines was dreaded by o...

Christopher Lee DW Audio Books

I see that Audible have finally made Christopher Lee's readings of TDRO and SC available via their service - www.audible.co.uk. About time too - I have them on CD but who listens to them anymore? They are the classic readings of the Duke de Richleau by the actor that played the Duke de Richleau and ...
